JAPAN’S PIONEER AND LEADING FORKLIFT PRODUCER
TCM Corporation has been an industrial pioneer and a leader in the logistics industry in Japan since 1949, when TCM produced the first Japan-made forklift. Today, TCM is dedicated to building integrated logistics systems that are the finest in the world, with two production plants in Japan, and a global marketing network covering North America, Asia and Europe. TCM products have an excellent reputation among their users for maneuverability and reliability. Rather than stand-alone equipment, TCM is committed to taking a comprehensive, systematic approach to rationalized material handling, producing integrated logistics systems.
TCM has undergone an interesting history in its relationship with North American markets. Initially all of its manufacturing took place in Japan, exporting their lifts to the USA, where they had a distribution center. During its development period in the late 1950’s, TCM had a technical collaboration agreement with the US Clark Forklift Company. To meet increased demand, In September 1988, Toyo Umpanki Co. established TCM Manufacturing, USA Inc. (TMU) in West Columbia, South Carolina. TMU began producing forklift trucks early the next year. In 1992, it was named South Carolina’s Manufacturer of the Year. TMU had the capacity to manufacture over 5,000 lift trucks (from 1.5 – 4.5 ton capacity) annually.
1999 marked Toyo Umpanki Co.’s 50th anniversary and they celebrated by changing their name to TCM Corporation. TCM Corp. is recognized world wide as a leader in research and development in both forklift trucks and other material handling products. TCM solidified its reputation in North America over the next five years, eventually forming TCM USA Holdings in 2005, operating from Swedesboro, NJ. At the same time, TCM became a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., LTD. Several acquisitions and consolidations later, the company discontinued product manufacturing in West Columbia, SC, transforming the facility into a sales and distribution center, which it remains today, with dependence on product imports from Japan.
The company’s Shiga Plant in Japan is TCM’s main production base. It is located in Ohmihachiman City, a castle town in Western Japan. Originally established as a forklift truck production site, the Shiga Plant has grown to become a diversified facility that serves as the mother plant for industrial vehicles. A wide range of advanced material handling equipment is manufactured there, including electric forklifts, lift trucks, shovel loaders, and automatic guided vehicles for high-tech production factories. The Shiga Plant has fully adopted total productive maintenance and management (TPM) practices, earning citations for TPM excellence in 1996 and advanced TPM in 2007.
Reliable, high performance TCM forklift trucks are used in demanding material handling applications throughout the world. They are operator friendly and deliver maximum productivity with low operating costs. TCM lift trucks are supported by the company’s dealer network, an outstanding warranty, genuine TCM replacement parts, and custom service plans.
The company produces all the standard forklift products, namely IC Cushion Tire, IC Pneumatic Tire, Electric Rider, IC Pneumatic Heavy Duty, Electric Rider, Electric Reach Trucks and Order Pickers, Electric Pallet Trucks, Electric Walkie Stackers & Tow Tractors and Hand Pallet Jacks. TCM Forklift’s “stand apart” strategy is based on its commitment to three major strands of effort, namely originality of their Technology (to create the top products in the industry), the reach of its Global Energy (building a world-renowned brand) and the power of their Human Energy (a company-wide respect for the quality of work).
TCM prides itself on its commitment to quality and service and its unsurpassed product warranty. TCM forklift trucks are consistently designed and regularly upgraded to exceed the market standard. Built from the highest quality parts under the strictest of construction standards, TCM forklifts define reliability. With proper periodic maintenance using their ready supply of OEM parts, TCM forklifts will provide countless years of dependable performance. All TCM forklift trucks are subject to multiple pre-delivery quality inspections beginning at the assembly line and ending at the customer’s door.
When it comes to service, TCM customers will always have the advantage of outstanding service long after the sale by highly competent and motivated service technicians. All TCM dealers and field technicians are strongly supported by factory trained service and design engineers. TCM forklift customers have the distinct advantage of using equipment built and maintained by people who are truly concerned with the safety and satisfaction of the end user.
Finally, TCM’s standard warranty is unsurpassed in the market. Their confidence in TCM quality and endurance allows them to offer a two year, 3000 hour basic warranty and a three year 6000 hour limited power train warranty on class 1, 4, and 5 trucks sold after 7/1/2011. Extended Premier Warranty programs are also available at competitive rates.
Just as they stand behind every forklift they produce, TCM has one of the industry’s leading parts and maintenance operations. Their mission is to have the parts needd to keep down time low. They have over 28,000 part numbers at their consolidated 33,000 square foot parts warehouse. And just as nobody builds a better forklift than TCM, nobody makes better parts for them than TCM. They manufacture and procure parts that are to the highest standards for production and maintenance. These are the same parts used to build the trucks, so their fit and quality can be trusted. They also carry and competitively price parts on other forklift brands, including Clark, Crown, Hyster, Komatsu, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota, Yale and more.
TCM Forklifts reflect the company’s reliance on the originality of their technology, the reach of their global energy and the power of human initiative, the pillars that have energized their company since its inception.
