Doosan Forklifts

TOP-TIER TECHNOLOGY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

Doosan Forklift PricesThe history of this Korean based company is interesting in that it began by importing assembled forklifts in the late 1960’s for their domestic market and then, in 1978, opened its own forklift production plant in Korea, reversing the process by gearing up to export  a quality forklift of its own.  In 1981, the company ventured into the US market through a joint venture with Caterpillar Industrial, Inc.

used doosan forklift for saleIn the late 1960s, Korea’s domestic forklift market was an open-import type market, when the Korea Machinery Co., Ltd. began to import assembled forklifts as part of a national industrial machinery expansion project. Sales of this initial equipment focused on state-run corporations, large business groups, and the armed forces. This led to a merger into Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd. in 1976, and the Forklift Division opened business outlets throughout Korea to sell and service this equipment. In 1978, a forklift production plant was completed, and efforts were focused on developing products and improving quality through continuous technical training.  By 1993, the company established a worldwide sales network and began to export models, developed through in-house technology, as an independent brand. The company then acquired certifications from UL of the USA, CE of Europe, and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, promoting expansion into overseas markets.

As an American Company evolving from its Korean beginnings, Doosan Industrial Vehicle American Corporation (DIVAC) is headquartered in a 170,000 square foot facility in Suwanee, Georgia. This is home to its Forklifts Group which performs Sales, Marketing, Parts, and Warehousing functions. The U.S. headquarters also houses a state-of-the-art parts operation supplying over 25,000 line items to support its affiliate Groups.  Additionally, DIVAC Forklifts conducts Product and Service Support, Machine Order, and Traffic and Logistics functions from its regional office in Warrensville Heights, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland).

Doosan Forklift RentalThe Forklift group supplies quality material handling equipment to the North American market through a network of 80 independent dealers. DIVAC forklift dealers operate over 200 sales and service locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The Forklift product line includes 63 separate models consisting of 82 various engine/battery configurations of Internal Combustion and Electric-powered vehicles in capacities ranging from 3,000 to 33,000 pounds. All trucks are manufactured in a ISO 9001 certified facility. The U.S. Forklift Group is staffed by highly experienced Sales, Marketing, Parts, Purchasing, Logistical, and Technical Support personnel committed to providing the optimum level of customer service to Doosan forklift company in the North American market.

In March of 2011 it was rumored throughout the industry that Doosan wanted to sell the forklift business.  However, the company denied the rumor, indicating that Doosan Infracore was looking to sell only a minority interest of their Forklift business and retain the governing share as part the Doosan Group.  Its intention was to use the capital raised from the sale to expand operations internationally. Company spokesmen went on to say that the focus of the company would remain dedicated to providing quality forklift products, parts and services to their current and future dealers, customers, and partners worldwide.

The company produces a wide range of material handling equipment and a vast forklift dealer network offers unparalleled support and service.  Their Hand Pallet Truck handles a 5,500 lb. capacity.  Among their Internal Combustion trucks, they offer an Internal Combustion Pneumatic Series of products in the capacity range of 3,000 lbs. to 36,000 lbs.  Their Internal Combustion Cushion Series has capacities from 4,000 lbs. to 12,000 lbs.  A Special Application Internal Combustion lift truck handles capacities of 4,000 lbs. to 6,000 lbs. Doosan’s Electric powered trucks  consist of six different series of Rear Wheel drives, 3 wheel products, 4 wheel Cushion series, and Cushion/Pneumatic Series, with capacity ranges from 3,200 lbs. through 10,000 lbs.

Over its relatively brief history, Doosan’s Forklifts group developed proprietary lift truck models. A multi-year Research & Development program resulted in the development of core technologies for engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems. Product quality has been validated through a variety of performance and durability tests. Product reliability of major components has been achieved through the company’s world-famous reliability evaluation centers.

Significant improvements in operator comfort and environmental friendliness has resulted in high levels of customer satisfaction. The sales division conducted large-scale field after sales surveys as part of a customer-oriented marketing strategy for its family of trucks. The G5 model is recognized throughout the world for its durability, reliability, and operator friendly features.

To expand overseas markets, the Doosan’s Forklifts group has established sales corporations and parts supply bases in the USA, Belgium, Brazil, and Singapore. The company has also developed a dealer distribution system of over 500 locations in 90 countries around the world. This dealer network distributes 71 different lift truck models, both internal combustion and electric powered, to meet a wide variety of customer needs throughout the material handling marketplace.

Doosan is proud of its quality products, dedicated team, strong partnerships and valued customers.  Their mission is summarized in one of its promotional themes: “We’re Doosan Infracore – developing top-tier technology for a better tomorrow.”
